Cella Biotech is a company that is specialized in confirming and mapping protein-protein interactions using the yeast two-hybrid system (see also the figure below). Companies and institutions can outsource some of their protein-protein interaction work to Cella Biotech (see services). The figure shows the dimeric protein NF-kappaB (p65: magenta and blue, p50: brown and green) bound to the Ig/HIV-kappaB DNA site (grey and orange) (Nature 391:410).
Using the yeast two-hybrid system a NPF motif in the p65 subunit of NF-kappaB was identified as a binding site for the EH domain of the human protein REPS2 (Oncogene 23:5607). The NPF is indicated in yellow.
Specifically abolish a protein-protein interaction in its natural environment.
